The Department of Zoology was delighted to host the inaugural function of the Zoology Association for the academic year 2025-26. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Kalesh Sadasivan, a distinguished faculty member of the Travancore Nature History Society (TNHS), Trivandrum, who served as the chief guest.

Dr. Kalesh Sadasivan is a renowned Plastic Surgeon serving as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Medical College Thrissur. He is also a passionate wildlife photographer and taxonomist who has made significant contributions to the field of biodiversity & Taxonomy. He has described over 30 species from the Western Ghats, a region recognized as one of the world’s most important biodiversity hotspots.

During the inaugural function, Dr. Kalesh Sadasivan delivered an enlightening lecture on “The Butterflies of Western Ghats.” His presentation highlighted the rich diversity of butterfly species found in the Western Ghats and underscored the importance of conservation efforts in preserving this natural heritage. The lecture was well-received by the audience, comprising students and faculty members of the department.
