Orientation Programme on Microbiology in the Present Day Scenario: Scope, Relevance, and Opportunities.

Dr. Sreejith Sreekumaran, the keynote speaker, provided an in-depth overview of microbiology, focusing on three main aspects:

Scope of Microbiology: He outlined how microbiology spans across various fields, from medical microbiology to environmental and industrial applications. He discussed how understanding microorganisms can help in developing new treatments, enhancing food safety, and advancing biotechnology.

Relevance in the Present-Day Scenario: Dr. Sreejith illustrated how microbiology has been crucial in dealing with current global health crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. He also touched upon its role in solving issues like antibiotic resistance and emerging diseases.

Opportunities and Scholarships: A significant portion of Dr. Sreejith’s talk was dedicated to career opportunities and scholarships for further studies. He informed students about global scholarships from prestigious universities and institutions .  He encouraged students to pursue advanced degrees and research, highlighting the benefits of networking and gaining international exposure.
