The Department of Sanskrit, Sree Sankara College Kalady, organised a one-day workshop titled “Pāribhāṣika-Śabda Paricaya” on 27 March 2026 under the SMART scheme of IQAC, in collaboration with Swadhyaya Research Foundation. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) M. Anilkumar and chaired by Dr. Suvaranni Antherjanam S., Head of the Department of Sanskrit.
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the significance of technical terminology (pāribhāṣika-śabda) in Sanskrit śāstric discourse, develop conceptual clarity in Navya-Nyāya categories, and provide practical training through exercises. The first session was handled by Dr. K. S. Maheswaran, Professor, Government Sanskrit College, Mylapore, while subsequent sessions were conducted by Sri Karthik Sharma K., Assistant Professor, School of Vedic Knowledge Systems, Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth. The sessions covered important concepts such as dharma, upādhi, sambandha, saṃyoga, and abhāva, along with their analytical applications.
A total of 45 participants attended the workshop, and worksheets were distributed to ensure active participation and practical engagement. As a result, participants developed a better understanding of technical Sanskrit terminology, improved their analytical and interpretative skills, and gained the ability to apply precise conceptual frameworks in the study of śāstric texts. The workshop thus proved to be academically enriching and beneficial for advancing scholarly competence.
