The Post Graduate Department of Commerce at Sree Sankara College, Kalady, successfully organized an orientation programme on FYUGP and career opportunities for first-year B.Com Honours students on July 23, 2024, at the Sri Chandrashekhara Bharathi Seminar Hall. The main theme of the programme was “Different Career Opportunities for Commerce Students.” The programme began at 10:00 AM with a melodious prayer song by Ms. Jisna and Ms. Anjana, DC I Finance and Taxation.

On this auspicious occasion, Smt. Sharanya Prathapan, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, gave the welcome speech, followed by the Presidential Address given by Mrs. S. Gowri Antherjanam, HOD, Department of Commerce. Prof. (Dr.) Anilkumar M, Principal of Sree Sankara College, inaugurated the ceremony and shared his valuable insights on the main theme of the event. Mr. James V George, Assistant Professor at SH College, Thevara, was the resource person for the programme. He felicitated the ceremony by lighting the lamp, followed by his inaugural address on the topic. While addressing the students, he emphasized the importance of education and career opportunities in one’s life, highlighting the significance of the four-year courses and the need to optimize graduate life positively along with different career plans.

The inaugural ceremony concluded with a word of gratitude by Smt. Abhisha J, Assistant Professor. The guest, along with the teachers and Principal, presented tokens of appreciation towards the end of their speeches. The programme began shortly after the inaugural ceremony and was attended by all the first-year B.Com Honours students of SSC, Kalady. Mr. James V George explained the FYUGP and presented various career opportunities along with a slide presentation and significant study materials. Overall, the entire programme was beneficial and proved satisfactory, providing further inspirational insights. The programme concluded at 3:45 PM.

The entire programme was compared by Ms. Gowry Parvathy and Ms. Nourin K. Dileep, DC I B.Com (F & T), and the vote of thanks was given by Anusree, DC I (Accounting).
