The Department of Hindi was established in 1963 with the introduction of the B.A. Hindi programme. Since its inception, the department has been committed to promoting the study of Hindi language and literature and to providing quality higher education.Studying Hindi literature helps in promoting the Hindi language, Indian culture, and rich literary heritage. It enables students to understand the social, cultural, and historical values reflected in literary forms.Hindi literature encourages analytical and critical thinking through the study of poetry, drama, novels, and short stories. Students of the department have secured several University ranks, including First Rank in 1986, 1999, 2002, and 2003, Second Rank in 2004, and First, Second, and Third Ranks in 2010,Fourth Rank in 2021,Second Rank in 2022 and 2023,Fifth Rank in 2024,Seventh Rank in2025. These achievements reflect the dedication of the faculty members and the academic commitment of the students.
After the fourth cycle of NAAC accreditation in 2024,the faculty members have been working collectively with the twin objectives of enhancing faculty competency and improving the effectiveness of the teaching–learning process.
