The B.Sc Microbiology (Self-Financing) program was introduced in 2002 in alignment with the Kerala Government’s policy initiative to expand vocational and skill-based education in private aided institutions. This marked a transformative shift in higher education, moving beyond conventional streams to focus on industry-relevant scientific disciplines.

True to its motto of socio-economic upliftment of Kalady, Sree Sankara College embraced this progressive change, establishing a robust Microbiology program with a vision to empower students with cutting-edge knowledge and career-ready skills.

Program Highlights

Eligibility for Admission

• Plus Two (or equivalent) with Biology as a subject.
• Vocational Higher Secondary in Biological/Paramedical/Agricultural or related fields.

Duration & Structure

• 8 Semesters (4 Years) under the Honours program.
• Two semesters per academic year:
  • Odd Semester (June – November)
  • Even Semester (December – March)
  • Semester Break: April & May (2 months)

• Minors Offered: Biotechnology & Biochemistry
• AEC (Ability Enhancement Courses): English, German/Malayalam/Hindi
