On 08 June 2023, a counselling session on the topic “Toxic Relationships” was conducted for students by Ms. Christy Binu, the college students’ counsellor. The session was organized with the objective of creating awareness about unhealthy relationship patterns and their impact on students’ emotional and psychological well-being.
During the session, Ms. Christy Binu explained the concept of toxic relationships and discussed common signs such as manipulation, lack of respect, poor communication, emotional dependency, and controlling behavior. She emphasized the importance of recognizing these warning signs at an early stage and encouraged students to prioritize self-respect and mental health. The session also addressed how such relationships can negatively affect academic performance, decision-making, and overall personal development.
Students were guided on ways to set healthy boundaries, improve communication, and build positive and respectful relationships. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to reflect on their experiences and clarify their doubts in a safe and supportive environment. Practical coping strategies and the importance of seeking help when needed were also highlighted.
Overall, the session was informative and impactful, helping students develop a better understanding of healthy relationships and reinforcing the importance of emotional well-being in their academic and personal lives.
