The Biotechnology Association Bionexus – The Dawn of Biotech Brilliance of Sree Sankara College, Kalady, successfully organized the launch of the Scientific Journal Club on 8 October 2024. The initiative was aimed at nurturing a scientific temperament among students by encouraging them to review, present, and critically discuss recent research advancements in biotechnology.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Anna Baiju (DC2 Biotechnology), Secretary of the Association, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, and students.
The official inauguration and presidential address were delivered by Prof. Dr. Anilkumar M, Principal of Sree Sankara College, Kalady. In his address, he emphasized the importance of scientific dialogue and highlighted the role of journal clubs in strengthening research-oriented learning and analytical thinking among students.
The highlight of the event was an insightful scientific session by Dr. Aneesa P. A. (Ph.D., PDF), Chief Minister’s Nava Kerala Post-Doctoral Fellow, CUSAT. She shared valuable perspectives on recent developments in biotechnology and stressed the importance of critically evaluating scientific literature. Her talk was both informative and inspiring, motivating students to actively engage in research and academic discussions.
During the programme, final-year students who have been providing free tuition to academically and financially disadvantaged students were recognized under the initiative “Koode Sankara.” This acknowledgment reflected the department’s commitment to social responsibility alongside academic excellence.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mr. Aswin P. Arjun (DC2 Biotechnology), who expressed sincere gratitude to the principal, faculty members, invited speaker, and all participants for their support in making the programme a success.
Overall, the launch of the Scientific Journal Club marked a significant step towards promoting academic excellence, research aptitude, and collaborative learning among biotechnology students.
